Glossary

Guild Wars 3 reveals assume twenty years of vocabulary. Here it is, briefly.

Arah
Orr's capital, and the city most associated with the six gods' presence among mortals.
Asura
A short, technologically brilliant people, playable since Guild Wars 2 and confirmed playable in Guild Wars 3.
Elite skill
A skill a character may equip only one of at a time. A long-running Guild Wars constraint that shapes every build.
Guild Wars Reforged
The December 2025 relaunch of the original 2005 Guild Wars, with a mobile release following in June 2026.
Kodan
A bear-like people of the far north, non-playable in Guild Wars 2 and playable for the first time in Guild Wars 3.
Orr
A human kingdom of Tyria. In Guild Wars it is a sunken ruin; in Guild Wars 2 it rises again as risen land. Guild Wars 3 is set there while it still stands.
Profession
What Guild Wars calls a character class. None have been revealed for Guild Wars 3.
Signet
A Guild Wars skill type that costs no energy and pays for it with a long recharge. Franchise lore traces signets to Orrian texts.
The Cataclysm
The event that sank Orr beneath the sea. It has not happened yet in Guild Wars 3's period — which is the whole tension of the setting.
The Six Gods
The human pantheon of Tyria. Absent by the time of the earlier games; present in Guild Wars 3's era.
Tyria
The world the Guild Wars games are set in, and also the name of its central continent.
Vaelwardens
The guild the player character belongs to at the start of Guild Wars 3.
